This forum serves as a sort of database for an exponential game setting (using the rules of DC Adventures).
Consider it some sort of Earth-309 or whatever number hasn't been explored yet.
You will be able to find details of the historical setting further in the forums, but here's a quick view:
Current year (2017 for now), the Justice League is still very influent, superheroes have been an occurence for a while but have known a boom in the recent years, planet earth has made many contacts with alien lifeforms.
The setting (or at least one of its storylines) is based on (or inspired by) the events of Young Justice, the animated show (and the comic books of the same timeline), as well as the events of Justice League, to an extent.
A particular thing on this forum will be the Stories (or Arcs?) (or Games), which are the games played on tables, or maybe some played online with less strict rules, and in rare cases stories written entirely without a game being played. The Stories will be recorded in the forum and can be read at any time by Game Masters (as material for their own games) and once completed they can be read by anyone.
If a game is abandoned, it is left there as non-canon until someone picks it up and completes it or we turn it into an alternate timeline story or we simply discard it.
When writing down stories, you need to add these:
-Names (or aliases) of every person involved
-Characters (with links to complete descriptions), including vilains
-Make sure people have access to desriptions of bases and other relevant info
-A detailed enough story
If you're a Game Master or a Writer, make sure to note all the progression of your games/stories so you can compile it as canon on the forum.
Also, please enjoy yourself. This forum is meant to make the roleplaying experience more interesting and more complete, for people who like DC and the game, but would rather play in their own version of the Universe while still having a wide array of lore on it, or people who want to have the opportunity to add their little grain of salt to something already in place. It is meant also as a tool for Game Masters who are looking for material to play a game in a world that has its own lore and has been played in properly.
If you want the rule book, I can share my Google Drive with you, but only temporarily, I don't want to be accused of sharing freely a book that is meant to be sold by DC. Buy your own :P
Oh, also, this forum can also serve as way of asking questions about rules, or just discussing. I have a bit of experience playing (and organizing a game, which didn't go far but was a constructive experience), and you can discuss with other players/GMs. Discussions about the DC canon lore is also an acceptable topic. Also: Roleplay, Tabletop, Larp, Video Games, Internet and whatever you want.
Wouldn't it be fun if someone was doing an in-game news outlet? That could be amazing material to make the games feel awesome!
Maybe more than one, by different people with different perspectives?
By the way, I know it might seem unfair or irritating, but at some point, Stories will be dated, placed on a timeline, and their events will become canon and might restrict many things about future games. For example, some characters might die, others might be stuck in prison, others might be in an ongoing story set far far away. Please be nice about that and don't try too hard to bend canon content.
Love you, good night. |
